In the morning, still in Tucson, we visited the San Xavier Del Bac Mission. They were holding services at 8:00 and 11:00 and we were able to see the mission between services.

The outside was beautifully whitewashed with wood detailing. The inside was quite ornate but the decoration was using paint and wooden accents. Even though we missed our home services we got the message from this wonderful mission.

The Message
Good in any church
setting

We wanted to visit Sabino Canyon in Tucson, but no tram services, timing and temperature kept us to a short walk and return to our car. This will have to go on our return visit list and in a cooler time period.

So off we go to Las Cruces, New Mexico (elev. = 3,900 ft, pop. = 100,000) for day two. We were pleasantly surprised to see this town nicely nestled beneath the Organ and Dona Ana mountains. The highlight of this town for us was their old town which has been nicely restored and kept up.

My kids can attest to how much I love doors...this one is wonderful and no, the picture is not skewed....the door is.

Cactus color.....
